New Groentopia campus in Haaltert completed

In Haaltert, Campus Groentopia has been completed. Commissioned by GO! Scholengroep Dender, Democo delivered a new school campus bringing together GO! primary school De Krekel and GO! primary school De Brug for special education. Haaltert thus gains a contemporary learning environment where inclusion, greenery, calm and quality education take centre stage.

The campus will be brought into use in phases. On 6 February 2026, the pupils and teachers of De Krekel moved into the new building. On 30 June 2026, De Brug will also move to the new campus, so that on 1 September 2026 all pupils of De Krekel and De Brug can start the school year there together.

This phased move ensures a smooth transition and gives both schools the space to start using the new campus in a thoughtful way.

Campus Groentopia includes 3,700 m² of floor area, 3,600 m² of outdoor paving, including a 350 m² covered playground, and 3,000 m² of grass and planting. HASA architecten designed an open, green and flexible learning environment that responds to a variety of needs.

The result is a campus that not only works smoothly for pupils and school teams, but also brings calm and breathing space to day-to-day school life. The combination of openness, structure and greenery makes Campus Groentopia a place where learning, guidance and living together come naturally.

Democo was responsible for the realization of the project. Campus Groentopia was developed within Aurora Scholen, the consortium of investors EPICo and Rebel and contractors Democo and Van Roey. The Energy Circle will take care of the maintenance of the campus for 30 years. Deholi was responsible for part of the custom-made furniture for the campus.

This means the campus not only takes shape today, but its long-term follow-up is also assured.
